Terms of Service

Draft · Last updated July 2026

These terms govern use of Forward Motion, board-management software provided byBuilt on Purpose, LLC, a Georgia limited liability company (“we,” “us”). By using Forward Motion, your organization (“you,” “the board”) agrees to them. They’re written to be read — if anything is unclear, ask.

1. The service

Forward Motion provides each customer board a dedicated software instance for managing board operations: meetings, minutes, motions, action items, rosters and committees, and recurring governance activities. Each board runs on its own isolated infrastructure (its own database and application deployment) at its own subdomain.

2. Your data is yours

All data your board enters belongs to your board. At any time, your administrator can produce a complete export — a full database copy plus per-record spreadsheets. Board documents are stored as links to your own file storage (such as your organization’s shared drive) and never leave your control. We will never sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to train machine-learning models.

3. Accounts & access

Access is by invitation from your board’s administrator, using sign-in links sent by email — there are no passwords. Your board controls its own member list and roles. You’re responsible for keeping your member email addresses current and removing access for departed members (the app makes both easy).

4. Operator access

As the service operator, we hold a system-steward role on each instance for provisioning, support, troubleshooting, and data export. The application is built so that individual evaluation responses are readable only by their author — a boundary enforced in the database that operator tooling does not bypass. We access your instance only to operate and support it, and consequential administrative actions are recorded in the instance’s audit log.

5. Subprocessors

Forward Motion runs on a small set of infrastructure providers, all processing data in the United States:

  • Supabase — database and authentication hosting
  • Vercel — application hosting
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Fathom Analytics — privacy-focused, cookieless analytics on this marketing site only

6. Fees

Fees are stated on the pricing page and invoiced annually, plus a one-time onboarding fee for new boards. Founding-board pricing does not increase for a board while its subscription remains active. Fees don’t auto-escalate; any future change is communicated before your renewal.

7. Support & availability

Forward Motion is deliberately run by a small operation — that’s a feature for support quality, and it also means honesty about scale: we target a response to support email within two business days(usually much faster) and do not offer a contractual uptime SLA. Maintenance is scheduled to avoid board meeting hours where known. If something breaks, we’ll tell you what happened plainly.

8. Acceptable use

Use Forward Motion for lawful board-governance purposes. Don’t attempt to access other boards’ instances, probe or disrupt the service, or use it to store material unrelated to board operations.

9. Not legal advice

Forward Motion records and organizes your board’s governance; it does not provide legal, tax, or compliance advice. Your bylaws, counsel, and judgment govern — the software just helps you follow through on them.

10. Termination & offboarding

Either party may end the relationship with notice. On termination we provide (or you produce) the complete data export, and your instance is deleted 30 days after you confirm you have your data. Your documents were always in your own storage. There are no exit fees.

11. Liability

The service is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months preceding a claim. We carry the responsibility of operating carefully; we can’t insure your board’s decisions.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA.

13. Changes

If these terms change materially, your administrator is notified by email before the change takes effect for your board.
